Shabby chic box.....

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all enjoying a crafting day.
I certainly am...
I would love your opinion on my altered box.
This is going into a craft fair next month.

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges.

I started with a plain brown box
(Pretty boring don't you think)

The first thing i did was stick tissue paper on,
While it was wet, I scrunched it up to give the desired effect.
When it was completely dry, I gave it all a coat of gesso,
Once that was dry i gave it several coats of paint,
To finish it off, I coated it with Mod Podge.

This is a close-up of the effect i was after.

The next step was to make two rosettes for the top.

I also die cut a shape to put the rosette on.

The finished top.

Close-up of side of the box,
After i added thick lace & gold braiding.

The finished box.

I hope you'll agree that it's not so boring now.

Items used.

Mod Podge.
Rose, Lace & Braiding from my stash.
Cream Acrylic paint.
Tissue Paper. Die (Help, I've forgotten)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog,
You all make it so worthwhile.
Happy crafting.

Lots of love,
Sylvia x

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get back into crafting..........

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I've been missing for so long,
Most of you may know, Reg has been really poorly,
I'm happy to say, He's on the mend.
He has to got to hospital tomorrow,
For a colonoscopy.
Thank you for all the well wishes.
I had a bad accident, injuring my head,
This really dented my confidence....
I have had no desire to do crafting of any description....
I really hope my mojo will return soon....
Thank you all for the lovely messages & Well wishes.

Last week I bought a letter rack from B & M
It was £3-99.

I gave it a coat of Gesso.

Then i painted it will acrylic paint.

The next step was to add some embellishments & braiding.

I then gave it a final coat of paint.
When this had dried I coated it with Mod Podge.
I gave the front a textured look.

Finally I gave it a gilded look with
LuminArte  (Bronze Medallion.

I hope you like the finished result.
