I'm slowly getting back into crafting....... Thank you for all the kind messages regarding my accident....

Hi everyone,
It's been quite a while since my last post.
I still have no Mojo for card making,
Due to my accident, Last August.
But I have managed to find some hobbies I can pursue...
Those of you who read my last post will know that I've had a go at painting furniture...
My Inspiration was a lovely lady named Louise,
She has the most amazing shop.
SHABBY CHIC INTERIORS.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shabby-chic-interiors/432701246873630?fref=ts

This is one of my projects,
I hope you like it.

This was a very dark table
 when I bought it...
It was in a sorry state...
Initially I painted it white & it was in my bedroom for a while,
Then I decided to change the colour...

I gave it a good sanding,
Primed it,
Then gave it several coats of paint.
You can't tell by the photo,
But it's now a lovely shade of cream.

Items used.
Sand paper.
Primer...Ronseal, All purpose primer & undercoat.
Paint... Valspar, Palest satin.

I have also been encouraged by lots of ladies in several groups,
You know who you are, Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog & comment,
I'm looking forward to being part of Blogland again.

Lots of love,
Sylvia x

Shabby Chic table......... My first venture.....

Hi Everyone,
I hope you're keeping well,
Last friday I took my son to get the keys for his new house,
While I was waiting for him,
I discovered a lovely shop.
Shabby Chic Interiors.
Curiosity got the better of me, So I ventured inside......
I'm so glad I did, I met the owner, A lovely lady named Louise....
She was so helpful & friendly,
I could have stayed in there all day.
She doesn't know it yet, But she inspired me to paint a small table...
This is the result,
I hope you like it.

This is how the table was before I started.

It was in a sorry state.

I removed the varnish with sandpaper,
Then Reg took it in the shed & applied paint & varnish stripper.
(Thanks Reg)

The next stage was to apply an undercoat.

Then I gave it two coats of paint,
When it was completely dry, I sanded parts of it to give a worn look.

Items used.
Sand paper.
Varnish remover.
Rust-oleum, Chalky finish Furniture paint.
Chalk white.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog,
I really appreciate your comments.

Lots of love,

Then came the fun bit... Decorating...
I started by gluing a piece of wallpaper on to the lid,
Then I coated it all with Gesso.
I then applied a coat of paint,
Once this was dry, I finished with a coat of Modge Podge.
Finally, I added the pretty bits.

Items used.

Shabby chic box.....

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all enjoying a crafting day.
I certainly am...
I would love your opinion on my altered box.
This is going into a craft fair next month.

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges.

I started with a plain brown box
(Pretty boring don't you think)

The first thing i did was stick tissue paper on,
While it was wet, I scrunched it up to give the desired effect.
When it was completely dry, I gave it all a coat of gesso,
Once that was dry i gave it several coats of paint,
To finish it off, I coated it with Mod Podge.

This is a close-up of the effect i was after.

The next step was to make two rosettes for the top.

I also die cut a shape to put the rosette on.

The finished top.

Close-up of side of the box,
After i added thick lace & gold braiding.
